[18F]FMISO (18F-fluoromisonidazole)

  • intravenous PET diagnostics with 18F (half-life 109.8 min), max. positron energy 633 keV followed by annihilation gamma radiation with energy 511 keV
  • the active substance fluormisonidazole (18F) selectively and quantitatively binds to the hypoxic cells of tumor tissue
  • knowledge of the degree of hypoxia in the tumor helps to choose the right strategy in the cancer treatment (tumor cells are more sensitive to radiotherapy and chemotherapy in the presence of oxygen)
  • recommended applied activity for adults is 300-550 MBq, in average 400 MBq for 70 kg patient
  • PET imaging is performed 2-3 hours after application

[18F]FES (18F-fluoroestradiol)

  • intravenous PET diagnostics with 18F (half-life 109.8 min), max. positron energy 633 keV followed by annihilation gamma radiation with energy 511 keV
  • detection of estrogen receptor (ER) positive lesions
  • adjunct to biopsy in patients with recurrent or metastatic breast cancer (MBC)
  • recommended applied activity for adults is 140-280 MBq, in average 220 MBq for 70 kg patient
  • PET imaging is performed 60-80 min after application
